🔎 What do UMF and MGO on the jar mean?

UMF stands for Unique Manuka Factor, a grading system set by the New Zealand Manuka honey producers association (UMFHA) and tested in labs it accredits. MGO stands for methylglyoxal, a natural compound that sets Manuka honey apart. Check the jar for a UMF number first, because an MGO figure on its own tells you only part of the story.

Bees gather it from the nectar of Manuka tree flowers that grow in New Zealand, and it is packed there before it ships to us, meeting the requirements of the New Zealand government and its Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).
